In 2012, four Parma area residents came together and founded the Parma Area Dog Park Association (PADPA), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, with the intent of forming a positive ongoing partnership with the City of Parma to help establish the first official city dog park.

"A local group is hoping to build off of this legislation and is working to establish an off-leash park where pet guardians can take their dogs for exercise and socialization."

"Many people with physical disabilities and the elderly would greatly benefit by having a safe, contained area to take their dogs for exercise. Because of physical restrictions, many dog guardians cannot provide their dogs the level of activity they require and deserve."

"I want to be "Proud of Parma," but it is difficult when our leaders are not setting the example they should be. Please do the right thing and continue the celebration of our dogs — our best friends, our children. Establish a dog park in Parma!"

Partnership

The Parma Area Dog Park Association believes strongly in Parma's commitment to fostering "Progress through Partnerships." We believe the positive ongoing partnership between our organization and the City of Parma will be mutually beneficial and create an asset for local residents.

Fundraising

Because we know that the City has limited funds to spend on a dog park, one of PADPA's highest priorities is to secure the necessary funding to help establish and maintain a city dog park. Grants, seasonal fundraising events, and online fundraising are ways we will seek funds.

Get Involved

Our organization would not be where it is today without the incredible outpouring of support we've received from volunteers who have helped to move us forward. To do our part in moving Parma forward, we continue to work with our volunteers to ensure the dog park success.

Dogs are family members, too!

"In 2005, the Parma City Council, led by now state Rep. Nicholas Celebrezze, drafted an ordinance that authorizes the mayor to establish a dog park. It appears several council members still support the ordinance today, but...that ordinance still sits in committee somehow, facing questions the drafters of the ordinance answered."

"Together, we can continue to work hard to ensure Parma remains a great place to live, work, and raise a family. And, yes, that includes our furry four-legged friends and their “guardians” who would certainly benefit from a centrally located dog park in Parma."
